  Un fenómeno reciente en la historiografía española es la concentración de buenas biografías sobre diferentes personalidades —hombres y mujeres— del siglo xIx español. Un fenómeno que se inscribe dentro de una tendencia general a revalorizar y legitimar este género dentro de la práctica historiográfica así como a teorizar sobre el mismo, proponiéndose alternativas interesantes, como la historia biográfica. El fenómeno observado, que examinamos deteniéndonos en aquellas obras que nos parecen más interesantes, lo interpretamos como expresivo de la normalización de la biografía en el tratamiento historiográfico del siglo xIx español.

  Recently, the field of Spanish history has witnessed the appear- ance of an array of fine biographies of several men and women of the nineteenth century. This is part of a general trend in which many scholars have reassessed, legitimised and reflected theoretically on the historiographical practices of the genre. Among the various interesting options, some have proposed the term historical biography. By addressing and examining some of the most interesting works, this article examines what could be interpreted as the normalisation in the use of biography within historical approaches to nineteenth-century Spain.
